Tick Magnet
This cub found a plastic bottle that he thought was just the best toy in the world. Unfortunately it was for insecticide for ticks. The Masai have communal lands within the Masai Mara & run their cattle there. They dilute and rub the insecticide on their cattle. Our guide, Ping, drove quickly towards the cub to startle him & make him drop it. It worked, and Ping then scooped up the bottle & put it in the vehicle. The cub wanted his toy back & made a lot of distressed noises before rejoining the other cubs. His mother, who had been watching, then sniffed around where we'd taken the bottle & searched back and forth as if we'd taken her cub. Eventually she went back to the pride where the other lionesses comforted her & her cub reunited with her.
