    Field Testing the New Tent

The trial by fire (or, more accurately, rain & wind) of my new tent at White Sands NM: this was just minutes before a 7 hour thunderstorm descended upon us. For the first time in her life, my dog stayed in the tent with me as the tent flapped in the wind but stayed perfectly dry the entire night. She got as far as poking her nose out under the fly for about 30 seconds before coming back in to cuddle for the night. I finally drifted off to sleep after the wind died around 2 am.

The Milky Way graces the sky over petroglyphs in the Ojito badlands of New Mexico. Jupiter is there bright star in the middle.

A fitting sunset for the birthplace of the Manhattan Project responsible for the development of the atomic bomb.
