Kam Wah Chung State Heritage Site

John Day, Oregon is the home to the Kam Wah Chung State Heritage Site. 1862 saw the discovery of gold. Miners of all races flocked to the area. At its height, there were around 2000 Chinese. This general store and apothecary were owned and run by "Doc" Hay and Lung On.

"Doc" Ing Hay was a Chinese herbalist. People came from the nearby (and not so near) states for treatment of their illnesses
