Bear Lake Autumn
Autumn colors linger at Bear Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park.
Autumns Embrace
Along the trail to the Subway in Zion National Park, a tree is encircled by fall foliage
Archangel Falls
The water flowing from the Subway cascades over slabs, creating Archangel Falls.
Making the Cut
Colorful leaves surround a gap in the rock slabs where the water from the Subway rushes through.
Ice Caterpillars Among the Leaves
Icicles above dripped and fell down onto the leaves on the slab below at the Subway in Zion National Park
The Subway 2018
The Subway in Zion can be accessed by a hike AKA bottom up or vis canyoneering AKA top down. I hike in from the bottom. There was a tiny bit of the ice on the walls on the left, little fingers about the size of Vienna sausages.
Endurance
A small bristlecone grows out of the rock near the Patriarch Grove in the Ancient Bristlecone Forest in the White Mountains of California's Eastern Sierras.
South Tufa
Limestone pinnacles rise out of Mono Lake in the Eastern Sierras of California.
Rabbitbrush Sunrise
With increased rainfall for the last several years, the rabbitbrush at South Tufa has multiplied like, well, rabbits!
North Peak Ice Patterns
Some of the most interesting ice patterns I've seen have been in the Eastern Sierras. North Peak is in the background. This is in the Twenty Lakes Basin just outside of Yosemite National Park.
Lundy Canyon Waterfall
A waterfall plunges into a pool fringed in ice. Lundy Canyon is just outside of Lee Vining, CA.
